Mura Masa is, without a doubt, one of the most promising electronic producers to watch this year, especially with DJs like Annie Mac from BBC Radio 1 noticing his sound. I must admit that his sound is an acquired taste, but I think that's a good thing. It means he isn't afraid to stretch his creative boundaries, and doesn't want to simply conform to what's on trend in the world of SoundCloud in order to garner listens. I've finally begun to really appreciate his first album Soundtrack to a Death and its beautifully avant-garde quality.
"What If I Go," while a more commercial release from his usually experimental-sounding repertoire, is a prime example of how Mura Masa is able to blend the lines between classical, electronic and pop music. It's a digestible track that would make a great introduction for new Mura Masa listeners.
Mura Masa and vocalist Bonzai have also collaborated before in "Know Me Better," another one of my favourite tracks at the moment.
