Flume's latest, long-awaited album Skin was released this past Friday.
Similar to the style of M83's 2011 album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming (and the song "Wait" in particular), "When Everything Was New" captures the sad, evocative feeling of nostalgia. You can almost feel yourself spinning on the tea cups at a carnival when listening to this one. This track made me think of that scene from the 2003 movie Uptown Girls.
On his Instagram, Flume explains the story behind "When Everything Was New":
The last line in that quote really hit home for me. There's something about the innocence and newness in childhood that this track made me realised I miss. "When Everything Was New" serves as a strong reminder not to lose our childlike curiosity, even when life starts to feel the most mundane.
