[Playlist] Feel-Good Friday, Vol. 6: Style

To me, these songs all have incredible style -- something hard to pinpoint in a musical sense, but the combination of dark minor chords, trap elements, future synths and a heavy bass in this playlist makes for a really cool sound.

As you know from February's This Month in Music, I've been very much into TroyBoi's music. The hashtag that he uses in categorizing his music is often #MyStyle, which inspired the title of this week's #FGF. "Nuffin" by SoundSnobz, which is half Troyboi, is what the duo calls "pretentious audio." Along with Peliqan's edit of Katy Perry's "Dark Horse," these two songs make a for an awesome deviant sound.

I also included Flume's mixtape version of "HyperParadise" featuring M.O.P. because of that rap verse that adds real attitude to the song. If you're into rap, there's also a remix Hudson Mohawke's hit "Chimes" that features Pusha T, Travis Scott and French Montana.

TL;DR These songs may make you feel particularly badass.

Happy Friday!

[Playlist] Feel-Good Friday, Vol. 5: Flow

Happy Feel-Good Friday!

This week's Vol. 5 is a clear continuation of Vol. 4, with those '90s UK garage influences being slowly popularized by artists like Disclosure. Here you'll find plenty of deep house beats that will be almost impossible not to dance to. I love that Motez can transform a rap song like "Gas Pedal" by Sage The Gemini into a modern club banger. LE YOUTH's remix of "Love Sublime" by Tensnake boasts a super addicting beat -- a hypnotizing one among all the others. And that drop in "Dare You 2 Move" is impeccable.

But if you're looking for a track with truly unique production, Scottish DJ Hudson Mohawke's dark, retro sounds in Disclosure and AlunaGeorge's "White Noise" is your song. AlunaGeorge also makes an appearance in Shadow Child's "Best Be Believing." Aluna's dainty voice contrasts beautifully with those heavy electronic, almost machine-like sounds.

Enjoy the weekend! And if you haven't already, check out my very first mix here.
